CAN YOU REALLY TRUST YOUR RECYCLER?
It can take up to an hour to securely eradicate the data from a hard drive using software.
In tests we purchased 10 second-hand computers from recyclers selling goods on eBay, out of the 10 we recovered nearly ALL of the data from the formatted drives.
This could have been down to failed degaussing attempts or because the recycler had just given the drives a quick format and then sold them to the highest bidder.
Either way this is a very worrying situation for any company to find its self in.
